Holly Ortega is an overachieving college sophomore studying pre-med in Bay City when tragedy strikes: a cycling accident leaves her in a coma. While hovering between life and death, an entity identifying itself only as "The Hunt" offers her a deal: she can wake up and return to her life if she takes up the mantle of the Wild Hunt, a supernatural guardian that watches over the city, protecting the mortals from supernatural threats.

Once she adopts the mantle of the Wild Hunt, the supernatural denizens of Bay City resist the newly established authority she represents. And Holly finds it difficult to summon the motivation to set her daily life back in order while much bigger problems plague her nights. Can Holly manage her new responsibilities while trying to step back into her day-to-day life as a student?
